To all our supporters:
For the first time in 16 years, we’re not writing to ask you for a donation to the Kelly Mohring Memorial Golf Classic. Instead, we’re writing to say thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for supporting our tournament over the years, and helping us to make a very real difference in the life of Hailey Mohring, who will turn 19 this fall!
As we announced last year, 2015 was the final tournament. For 16 years, our staff organized the event as a fundraiser for the Hailey Mohring Trust Fund . Our goal was simple: to help support Hailey Mohring, whose mother, Kelly, our co-worker, lost her battle with cancer in March 2000. Hailey has severe cerebral palsy, and requires specialized equipment and care every day.
In the beginning, the tournament was a modest success, raising a few thousand dollars each year. As it gathered momentum, people responded and more money came in. The final tournament in August 2015 raised a record $28,000, bringing the tournament total to $228,000!
The funds raised at the golf tournament have been managed by the Hailey Mohring Trust Fund, which has seven Trustees. Since we established the Trust Fund, we have provided important support for Hailey. For several years, the Trust Fund has covered the cost of Hailey’s specialized before and after school care, summer day care, and massage therapy. Last year, these Trust Fund expenditures, as well as an adjustable bed, totaled nearly $25,000. Major purchases over the years include strollers, power chairs, bath seats, car seats, a bicycle/chair, and a chair lift system, to name just a few.
With the end of the annual golf tournament, the Trust Fund is also coming to a close. On behalf of the organizing committee of the Kelly Mohring Memorial Golf Classic and the Hailey Mohring Trust Fund, thank you for supporting our tournament. Hailey and her dad, Jeff, are enormously appreciative of everyone’s generosity and caring over the years.
We know you join us in wishing Hailey all the best in her future endeavours.
