The Hailey Mohring Trust Fund
What is the Hailey Mohring Trust Fund?
Kelly Mohring, the UTRCA’s Development Planning Specialist, passed away in March 2000 after a brave battle with cancer. She left behind her husband, Jeff, and their daughter, Hailey, who was two years old at the time. Our staff decided to use our annual golf tournament to raise money for Hailey, whose challenge is to live a happy, productive life with cerebral palsy.
The Hailey Mohring Trust Fund was established to oversee the funds raised for Hailey’s care and well being. Because of her medical condition, she requires some very specialized equipment and care. In addition to regular wear and tear, her equipment needs to be replaced as she outgrows it.
Who are the Trustees?
The funds raised at the golf tournament are managed by the Hailey Mohring Trust Fund. The seven Trustees developed a set of criteria for decision-making. They consider requests for services and equipment purchases and repairs and assist with these expenses if the request meets criteria and funds permit. Hailey’s family also pursues all alternate sources of funding and services.
What has the Trust Fund done?
The funds raised at the golf tournament have been managed by the Hailey Mohring Trust Fund, which has seven Trustees. Since we established the Trust Fund, we have provided important support for Hailey. For several years, the Trust Fund has covered the cost of Hailey’s specialized before and after school care, summer day care, and massage therapy. Last year, these Trust Fund expenditures, as well as an adjustable bed, totaled nearly $25,000. Major purchases over the years include strollers, power chairs, bath seats, car seats, a bicycle/chair, and a chair lift system, to name just a few.
To everyone who has supported the Kelly Mohring Memorial Golf Classic, we thank you. Sponsors, golfers, volunteers, host clubs of the golf tournaments, businesses, agencies and individuals who donated prizes – you all provided amazing energy to help make this fundraiser, in Kelly’s memory, a success.
