St. James Anglican Church (St. Marys) – Rain Garden

In August 2017, a rain garden was installed on the church property to serve as a demonstration site. UTRCA staff and St. James volunteers conducted the work. The downspout on the corner of the parish hall collects runoff from the roof and directs it through a plastic pipe underground and into the rain garden.

Thirty-five native wildflowers were planted in the garden. Species included:

  • Dwarf Bearded Iris (Iris pumila ‘Blue’)
  • Coreopsis ‘Moonbeam’
  • Lobelia ‘Queen Victoria’
  • Yarrow (Achillea millefolium ‘Paprika’)
  • Beard-Tongue
  • Bee-Balm ‘Marshall’s Delight’ (Monarda didyma)
  • Stonecrop ‘Autumn Joy’ (Sedum hybrid)
