WATERSHED CONDITIONS STATEMENT – WATER SAFETY (Issued January 13, 2020 at 14:30; Valid until January 17, 2020)

The Upper Thames River watershed received 70 to 90 mm of rain between Friday and Sunday morning, and some of the resulting runoff water was stored in the UTRCA’s flood control reservoirs behind Wildwood, Fanshawe, and Pittock Dams to reduce downstream flooding.

Water levels in streams and rivers are still elevated across the watershed, particularly below these dams as the stored water is released, and will remain high until the end of this week.

The public is encouraged to exercise extreme caution around all local waterways. People are encouraged to keep children and pets away from all watercourses, to stay out of standing water, and not to drive into flooded areas.
