Tree Power returns to St. Marys!

The Town of St. Marys and the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (UTRCA) have once again partnered on St. Marys Tree Power to make native hardwood trees available and affordable for residents of St. Marys!

“We’re very pleased to bring this program back to our town this year as it was so well received in 2022,” said Morgan Dykstra, Public Works and Planning Coordinator for the Town of St. Marys. “This is a wonderful opportunity to contribute to our urban tree canopy.”

St. Marys residents can purchase a tree online beginning September 12 at 10 am. The trees will be available for pick up in St. Marys on Saturday, October 14. Available tree varieties include: Autumn Fantasy Maple, Downy Serviceberry, Native Red Maple, Red Oak, Sugar Maple, and Tulip Tree.

“We were able to secure some really great tree species and are happy to be working with the Town of St. Marys to once again offer the program to its residents,” said Rob Davies, UTRCA Forestry and Recreation Supervisor.

The program’s goal is to create a greener and more beautiful community by adding native trees. The UTRCA Tree Power program began more than 10 years ago in London. This is the second year Tree Power is being held in St. Marys.

The following program partners have contributed funding and in-kind donations: Town of St. Marys, St. Marys Green Committee, Upper Thames River Conservation Authority.
