Children’s Water Festival events back in person! (UTRCA weekly, May 27, 2022)

The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (UTRCA) is happy to be back hosting Children’s Water Festival events in person. “We’re so excited to be able to gather again outdoors to celebrate water in our community!” says Linda Smith, UTRCA Water Festival Coordinator.

After shifting to online activities due to the pandemic, UTRCA staff are holding events both in person and online this year.

Perth Children’s Water Festival, Sunday, May 29 (Stratford)

Families are invited to the Perth Children’s Water Festival event on Sunday, May 29, from 1-4 pm, at the Falstaff Family Centre in Stratford. This free event features hands-on, family friendly activities that highlight and celebrate the importance of water. Bookings are recommended for families who want to take part in the Stream of Dreams community art activity station, where they will paint a fish made of recycled plastic for an on-site art mural.

Oxford Children’s Water Festival, Saturday, June 11 (Woodstock)

On Saturday, June 11, the Oxford Children’s Water Festival event is back at Pittock Conservation Area in Woodstock. The event is from 10 am to 3 pm in the day use area and is free to attend. Families are invited to enjoy water-themed activities, shows by Sciensational Sssnakes, terrarium building workshops, big trucks, food trucks, drumming workshops, screen printing, button making, and more.

Online Activities, June 8 – 10

There are also live virtual activities from Wednesday, June 8 to Friday, June 10, including dairy barn tour at Elarda Farms with the VanWely family, as well as wildlife talks with Salthaven Wildlilfe Rehabilitation and Education Centre and Sciensational Sssnakes. Interested participants are asked to register for the virtual events by Monday, June 6.
