Forest and Nature School Practitioners Course at Wildwood Conservation Area (media release, February 16, 2021)

Feb 16, 2021 – The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (UTRCA) is pleased to bring the Forest and Nature School Practitioners Course to Wildwood Conservation Area, in partnership with the Child and Nature Alliance of Canada and Forest School Canada.

“This is a year-long, self-directed professional development course for people interested in becoming certified Forest and Nature School Practitioners,” said Erin Dolmage, UTRCA Community Education Technician. “The course work begins online in May, and there will be a four day in-person session October 1-4, 2021 at Wildwood Conservation Area. The course emphasizes self-directed, experiential, and inquiry-driven outdoor learning.”

Who: Qualified Teachers, Early Childhood Educators, or equivalent background experience
When: Online registration opens Tuesday, February 16, 2021, 12 pm
Where: Online and Wildwood Conservation Area, 3995 Line 9, St. Marys
What: This course will give educators the necessary tools to safely and effectively deliver Forest and Nature School programs.

Forest School Canada, the flagship educational program of the Child and Nature Alliance of Canada, aims to support high-quality Forest School practice and programming in Canada through evidence-based, practical, and inspiring professional learning opportunities, community building, and advocacy.

Their goal is for all children in Canada to have the opportunity to lead their play and learning on the land as an integral part of their education and healthy development.
