Stream of Dreams and Dearness Home Partnership featured at Therapeutic Recreation Ontario Conference

The power of art, environmental stewardship, and intergenerational connection took centre stage as representatives from the UTRCA and Dearness Home recently presented their innovative partnership at the annual Therapeutic Recreation Ontario Conference.

The presentation highlighted the powerful role that creativity, environmental stewardship, and community partnerships can play in enhancing quality of life through the creation of a Stream of Dreams mural. Not just an environmental education initiative, the project became a meaningful opportunity to build relationships across generations, foster creativity, and create a lasting legacy within the community.

At the conference, presenters shared how the project supported therapeutic recreation goals by promoting social engagement, purpose, creativity, and participation. The partnership demonstrated how environmental education can be adapted to create meaningful experiences for people of all ages and abilities while strengthening community connections. The session generated significant interest among recreation professionals from across Ontario, who were inspired by the project's ability to bridge generations through environmental education and a shared creative experience.

The UTRCA and Dearness Home partnership stands as an example of what is possible when organizations come together around a common goal. By combining environmental stewardship with therapeutic recreation and community engagement, the project created lasting impacts for participants while leaving behind a beautiful piece of public art that will inspire others for years to come.
