March 18, 2019 – In celebration of World Water Day on March 22, the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (UTRCA) has announced that Todd Sleeper is the 2019 UTRCA Community Conservation Award winner for his tireless efforts cleaning up the Thames River.

2019 marks the 20th year that Todd has organized the Thames River Clean Up. Todd began the Thames River Clean Up in 2000 when the Thames was designated as a Canadian Heritage River. Since that time, Todd has organized thousands of people up and down the Thames for an annual spring clean-up around Earth Day.

Ian Wilcox, UTRCA General Manager, says, “The Thames River Clean Up has been a huge success in improving watershed health and increasing community awareness about the river. We owe Todd much gratitude for his ongoing commitment the Thames River Clean Up.”
