12 Years of Tree Power London!

London Hydro and the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (UTRCA) have once again partnered together for the twelfth year of making native trees available and affordable for residents of London!

The London Hydro Tree Power program launched in 2012 and has been so well received it has become an annual program as well as inspiring Tree Powers in other municipalities.

“We’re really happy to be able to run this program again thanks to our partnership with London Hydro. Tree Power is a great way for Londoners to plant native trees in their yards. These trees will provide many benefits including reduced cooling costs, cleaner air and water, and more biodiversity,” said Robert Davies, UTRCA Forestry and Restoration Supervisor.

There are nine tree species available: Autumn Fantasy Maple, Black Cherry, Bur Oak, Red Maple, Red Oak, Sugar Maple, Tulip Tree, White Pine, and White Spruce. These species were selected as they are well suited to the area. Residents are asked to purchase only one tree per property so that as many people can benefit from the program as possible.

London Hydro Tree Power tree orders will open online on Friday, March 1 at 8 am: online ordering available here.

The trees will be available for pick up at Fanshawe Conservation Area on April 5 and 6.
