New Campsite Reservation System for Fanshawe, Pittock, and Wildwood Conservation Areas (UTRCA Weekly, February 11, 2022)

The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (UTRCA) has launched a new and improved online reservation system for the 2022 camping season.

The new Camis 5 reservation system for Fanshawe, Pittock, and Wildwood Conservation Areas went live on February 1, offering customers a fresh look and feel to the online experience. The new system provides greater access to online services and a better overall customer experience when campers are booking their campsites.

Karen Sockett, Conservation Area Clerk, explained the appeal of the new site, saying, “We believe our campers will find the new system easier to use and they’ll like the new features. For example, the reservation and gift card system lets customers register electronic gift cards to their account and view previous visits for site information so they can rebook their favourite spots.”

All campers, including returning customers, will need to create a new account to access the new system.

Camis 5 is also able to provide staff with information regarding visitation numbers to help track the UTRCA’s environmental target of supporting outreach to one million people annually through visits to CA owned and managed lands, as well as hands-on environmental experiences.

Brent Verscheure, Manager of Lands, Facilities and Conservation Areas, shared that, “Conservation areas across Ontario have experienced an unprecedented increase in visitation since the beginning of the pandemic, as people look for safe outdoor activities. This new reservation system is one more way we can better respond to this increase in demand.”
