UTRCA’s West Perth Tree Power program Returns for Third Year

The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (UTRCA) has once again partnered with the Municipality of West Perth to host the third West Perth Tree Power this spring! This popular program provides watershed residents with affordable native trees through partnerships with UTRCA municipalities and sponsors.

“We’re glad that the Tree Power program has been so well received in West Perth. It’s a great way to get more trees planted thanks to our partnership with the municipality,” says Rob Davies, UTRCA Forestry and Restoration Supervisor.

Online orders will open on March 9 at 9 am. The species that will be available for purchase include: American Sycamore, Basswood, Bur Oak, Paper Birch, Sugar Maple, Tulip Tree, White Pine and White Spruce. Trees are $30 each and residents will be able to pick up their trees on Saturday, April 25.

Nic Larsen, Director of Community Services for the Municipality of West Perth says, “The Municipality of West Perth is pleased to partner with the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority through the Tree Power program to help residents enhance and green their properties. Through this collaboration, we are improving access to affordable trees, supporting environmental sustainability, and contributing to a healthier, more vibrant community for all.”

West Perth Tree Power is supported by the Perth County Stewardship Program which supports landowners and community groups with the financial resources and technical expertise to complete projects including windbreaks, ecosystem links, forest restoration plantings, and living snow fences to enhance the natural assets of Perth County and protect agricultural lands.
