Community Comes Together to Restore Dorchester Mill Pond 

On September 13, community members gathered at the Dorchester Mill Pond for an aquatic planting event organized by the Dorchester Mill Pond Committee and the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (UTRCA). 

Volunteers planted over 300 native aquatic plants along the shoreline and around the crib wall which was constructed in 2025. These plants will help stabilize the shoreline, reduce erosion, improve water quality, and provide valuable habitat for fish, birds, and other wildlife. 

The project was made possible through funding from the Canada Water Agency along with the ongoing efforts of the Mill Pond Committee, UTRCA and community volunteers. 

A big thank you goes to everyone who came out to get their hands dirty and help care for this special natural area. Together, these small actions are helping to improve the health and beauty of the Mill Pond for generations to come.
