Online Ordering Now Available for Tree Planting on Private Lands Program

Private landowners in the Upper Thames River watershed can now order their trees online at www.thamesriver.on.ca/shop. Open until March 1st, 2024, this new digital format allows landowners to conveniently browse a variety of coniferous and deciduous trees and wildlife shrubs to plant next spring.

Trees are made available through the Tree Planting on Private Lands program which is open to those who own at least 2.5 acres of land in the Upper Thames River watershed. Projects often include windbreaks, retiring highly erodible land, treed buffer strips along watercourses, or creating wildlife habitat.

Large stock trees and tree seedlings purchased through the program may be planted through the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority’s (UTRCA’s) full planting service or by the landowner. Those wishing to take advantage of the planting service are encouraged to contact forestry staff directly before purchasing trees online.

“With the online store being open around the clock, we hope it will add an element of convenience for landowners wishing to purchase trees for their properties,” said Rob Davies, Forestry and Restoration Supervisor. “All of the information and technology they need to place an order is right at their fingertips. Of course, UTRCA forestry staff are still available by phone to answer any questions or assist with making a purchase.”
