UTRCA's Tree Power returns to Thames Centre!
The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (UTRCA)'s Tree Power program is returning to Thames Centre for a second year. This popular program provides watershed residents with affordable native hardwood trees through partnerships with UTRCA municipalities and sponsors.
"I helped residents load trees into their cars last year, and I was very impressed by the turnout," says Thames Centre Councillor Danielle Lockie. "Tree planting is one of the simplest and most effective ways to help the environment, and discounted trees from Tree Power helps everyone get involved."
"We're excited to partner with the municipality and bring Tree Power to Thames Centre residents. This program is an easy way for people to improve their local environment," says Rob Davies, UTRCA Forestry and Restoration Supervisor.
Online orders will open on March 9 at 9 am. Trees are $30 each via the UTRCA online store. The species that will be available for purchase include: American Sycamore, Basswood, Bur Oak, Hackberry, Paper Birch, Red Oak, Sugar Maple, Tulip Tree, White Spruce and White Pine.
Residents will be able to pick up their trees on Saturday, April 25.
