Get to Know Your Creek Event

The Friends of Stoney Creek and Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (UTRCA) welcomed 76 people to their annual Get to Know Your Creek event on October 4, 2026, bringing community members together to explore and care for their local environment.

Participants got their hands dirty weeding and planting a wildflower garden, helping create valuable habitat for pollinators and other wildlife. They also ventured into Stoney Creek to explore the waterway and search for aquatic life, discovering plenty of benthic macroinvertebrates (ex: dragonfly and stonefly larvae, snails, and worms)!

The event was a great opportunity for people of all ages to connect with nature, learn more about the health of the Stoney creek, and take action to support their watershed.

A big thank you to the Friends of Stoney Creek and everyone who came out to help care for this important community green space!
